We collect information in three main ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use Chowr, and information we receive from third parties. This includes account and profile information such as your name, email address, and profile picture when you sign up or log in using email, Apple, or Google through our identity provider Auth0 (we do not receive your password).
If you choose to continue as a guest, we create a temporary, pseudonymous profile tied to your device, which may still be associated with a random device identifier. We also collect content and activity data such as your spins, restaurants you view or save, foodie points and levels, comments, likes, friend requests, and other in-app interactions.
With your permission, we access your approximate location to suggest nearby restaurants; we do not continuously track your location in the background. Additionally, we collect technical and usage information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, diagnostic logs, and a random device identifier stored on your device.
If you enable push notifications, we obtain a device token from Apple so we can send alerts about comments, likes, friend activity, and other account-related events. We use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to show banner ads; AdMob may collect device identifiers and related information as described in Google’s privacy policies, and where supported we request non-personalized ads.
If you contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message.
We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve Chowr. This includes creating and managing your account or guest profile, authenticating you, and keeping your spins, foodie points, friends, and saved restaurants in sync across sessions and devices.
We provide core features such as restaurant discovery, spins, feeds, comments, likes, friend features, notifications, and saved restaurants, and we personalize your experience based on your general location and usage patterns. We send service-related communications such as notifications about comments, likes, friend requests, security alerts, and changes to our terms or policies.
We also use your information to show and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and detect invalid activity. In addition, we monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve performance and develop new features. We also use your data to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity, as well as to comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Depending on your location, we rely on one or more legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests (such as securing our services, understanding usage, enforcing limits, and showing relevant ads), and your consent for optional features like precise location, notifications, or marketing communications.
You may withdraw consent at any time through your device settings or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing already completed.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with trusted providers that assist us, such as hosting services, authentication partners like Auth0, analytics tools, Apple Push Notification service, and advertising platforms like Google Mobile Ads.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the safety of Chowr and its users, or to address fraud and technical issues. In the event of a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition), your information may be transferred accordingly.
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot be used to identify you.
We implement technical and organizational measures to help protect your information, including secure token storage, restricted access, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
If a data breach or security incident affects your personal information, we will investigate and notify you and relevant authorities if required. We are not responsible for breaches caused by compromised devices or reused passwords.
You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and enabling device-level protections such as passcodes or biometrics.
Depending on your location, you may have rights such as accessing, correcting, deleting, or restricting processing of your information, as well as requesting data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
Some rights can be exercised in the app; others require contacting us. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
We and our partners use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies for preferences, authentication, analytics, and app improvement. Advertising partners like Google Mobile Ads may use mobile identifiers to deliver and measure ads. Where possible, we request non-personalized ads.
You can control tracking through device settings by resetting your advertising ID, limiting ad tracking, or disabling permissions such as location or notifications.
We retain information as long as necessary to operate Chowr, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Account data is stored while your account is active. Guest and device identifiers may be deleted upon uninstalling the app, clearing data, or resetting the device.
We may retain logs and backups for a limited period for security and fraud prevention. You may contact us for details about retention periods for specific data types.
Chowr is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover such data was collected, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy as needed to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, or legal requirements. Material updates will be reflected in the “last updated” date and may include an in-app notification.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected].

Terms of Service
By accessing or using Chowr, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the app. If you use Chowr on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf.
Chowr is a restaurant discovery and social application that helps users find and explore local dining options through a random selection process, view and save restaurants, interact with friends, leave comments and likes, earn foodie points, and receive notifications. We may update, modify, or remove features from time to time as we improve the service.
You may use the app as a guest or create an account for additional features. Guest accounts are limited and may be tied to your specific device; data associated with a guest account may be lost if you delete the app, clear data, or change devices. Registered accounts may use email, Apple, or Google login provided through third-party authentication services such as Auth0. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by local law in your jurisdiction) to use the service, and by using the app you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these terms.
You agree not to misuse Chowr or help anyone else do so. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to: using the app for any unlawful purpose; harassing, threatening, or defaming others; posting or sharing content that is hateful, obscene, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate; attempting to circumvent limits on spins, foodie points, or other features; creating multiple or fake accounts to manipulate rewards or social features; reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to access the app's source code except as allowed by law; using automated tools to access or scrape the service; and interfering with or disrupting the operation of the app or the networks used to provide it. We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Chowr may allow you to submit, post, or display content such as usernames, comments, likes, spins, saved restaurants, and other material ("User Content"). You retain any rights you have in your User Content, but by submitting it you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, display, and perform that content in connection with operating, improving, and promoting Chowr. You are solely responsible for your User Content and for ensuring that you have all rights necessary to grant this license. We may remove or refuse to display any User Content that we believe violates these terms or applicable law.
Chowr may provide virtual features such as foodie points, levels, badges, and other in-app achievements or rewards (collectively, "Virtual Items"). Virtual Items have no real-world monetary value, are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash or other consideration. We may change, limit, or discontinue Virtual Items or how they are earned or used at any time, with or without notice. We may correct or adjust Virtual Item balances in cases of error, suspected abuse, or violation of these terms.
The app may request access to your device location to provide restaurant recommendations and other location-based features. Location data is used to find nearby restaurants and improve your experience, but you are responsible for verifying that any recommended restaurant is appropriate for you, including with respect to dietary needs, accessibility, safety, and compliance with local laws. You can disable location services at any time through your device settings, though this may limit the app's functionality.
Chowr integrates with and relies on third-party services such as Auth0 (for authentication), Apple and Google sign-in, mapping and restaurant data providers, Apple Push Notification service, and advertising networks like Google Mobile Ads. The app may also contain links to third-party websites, apps, or services. These third parties have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content, policies, or actions. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to the terms and policies of those providers.
Our collection and use of personal information in connection with Chowr is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms of Service by reference. By using the app, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
When you enable push notifications, you agree to receive alerts related to your account and activity, such as comments, likes, friend requests, and other service-related messages. You can manage or disable notifications through your device settings, although we may still send you important administrative or security-related communications where permitted by law.
Chowr displays advertisements, including through third-party advertising networks such as Google Mobile Ads. Advertisements are provided by third parties, and we do not endorse any advertised products or services. Any dealings you have with advertisers are solely between you and the advertiser, and we are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from such dealings.
Chowr and all content and services provided through the app are offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Restaurant information is provided for informational purposes only and may not be accurate, complete, or up to date; you should verify details such as hours, menus, prices, and availability directly with the restaurant. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of or inability to use Chowr, any content or recommendations, or any interactions with third parties, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event will our total liability for all claims relating to the service exceed the amount you have paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Chowr, including guest or registered accounts, at any time and without notice if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, engaged in fraud or abuse, or if we need to protect the security or integrity of the service. Upon termination, your right to use the app will immediately cease, and we may delete or restrict access to your account and related data, subject to our legal and operational retention obligations. You may stop using the app at any time, and you may request deletion of your account as described in our Privacy Policy.
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which our company is established, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Chowr will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in that jurisdiction, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Before initiating formal legal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices. We will notify users of material changes by posting updated terms in the app and updating the "last updated" date, and we may provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the app after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
For questions about these Terms of Service or any concerns regarding your use of the app, please contact us at [email protected]. We are committed to addressing your questions and providing clear information about our terms and conditions.
